近年の台風に対するメディアの反応、さらにはSNSの投稿が問題になっています。
特に災害時における情報の拡散について、非常に重要な局面に直面していると私は考えています。
今回の台風１０号に関しても”X”を利用して情報を発信・拡散した経験がある人の多くが、偽情報を見分ける自信を持ちながらも、「ファクトチェック」の概念を正確に理解していないという調査結果は、非常に懸念すべき問題です。

なぜ、これが問題かというと、災害時に広まる偽情報は、社会に大きな混乱を引き起こし、結果的に被害を拡大させる危険性も考えられるし、さらには経済活動へのダメージも相当甚大な影響を受けたはずです。
では、どう対策すべきか？
学校教育で正確な情報をどうやって見分けるか？などの教育をするなど長期で見たら「教育機関」の介入は不可欠かもしれませんが、結局はイタチごっこ。
流暢に構えていても自分が良かれと思い拡散した情報がフェイクで自分自身が加害者になったり、自分の家族が被害者になったりする可能性は日々拡大しています。
自分の知識以上の情報は基本的に自分で扱わない方が良いという大前提を理解した方が良いかと思います。
その情報の真偽を判断できなければ、最低限自分と一般社会が認めている情報ソースのみを信用する、扱うクセを身につけ、それ以外の情報は常に「これはフェイクかもしれない」と疑う能力を身につける事が必須な時代になっています。
アメリカなどではすでに問題になってる大統領選挙などでのネガティブキャンペーンのAIの活用。 当選してほしくない候補者の人気が下がるような動画をAIで拡散するなどの規制や対策など大きな問題が浮き彫りになってます。
はっきり言って現在の技術ではディープフェイク動画を見抜ける術はないと言えるかもしれません。
一方でSNSやインターネットの情報網は非常に便利です。
一昔前は大人にならなければ触れることもできなかった高度な情報などに最も簡単に誰でも触れる事が可能な時代です。
情報は道具です。道具であれば扱うスキルがない人間がそれを持った時にどんな事が起こるかは容易に想像できるし、今の世の中がその状態かもしれません。
要するに、私たちはSNSやインターネットの便利さを享受する一方で、情報の取り扱いには慎重さが求められます。正確な情報を見極めるスキルを身につけ、常に批判的な視点で情報を扱うことが、これからの時代において不可欠です。

In recent years, the media’s response to typhoons, along with posts on social media, has become a significant issue. I believe we’re at a crucial point when it comes to the spread of information during disasters.
Take Typhoon No. 10, for example. A study showed that while many people who used “X” to share and spread information felt confident in spotting fake news, they didn’t fully grasp the concept of “fact-checking.” This is a really concerning problem.

Why is this a problem? Because fake news spreading during disasters can cause massive confusion, potentially worsening the damage and even seriously affecting economic activities.
So, how can we tackle this?
Long-term solutions might involve schools teaching how to identify accurate information, but that alone won’t solve everything. Even if you think you’re careful, the chances of spreading false information or becoming a victim yourself are increasing every day.
It’s important to understand that you shouldn’t handle information beyond your knowledge. If you can’t verify the truth of something, it’s better to rely only on sources recognized by both yourself and the general public, and always keep in mind that “this might be fake.”
In the U.S., there’s already a big issue with AI being used for negative campaigns during presidential elections, like spreading videos to decrease the popularity of certain candidates. Regulations and countermeasures are becoming a major topic.
Honestly, with today’s technology, it’s hard to say there’s a way to detect deepfake videos reliably.
On the flip side, social media and the internet are incredibly convenient. We now have access to advanced information that, in the past, only adults could get their hands on.
But information is a tool. And when someone who doesn’t know how to use it properly gets ahold of it, we can only imagine what might happen—and that might be the situation we’re in today.
In short, while we enjoy the convenience of social media and the internet, we need to be cautious about how we handle information. Gaining the skills to distinguish accurate info and always approaching things with a critical mindset is essential in today’s world.
